Digital Transformation: A Journey Not a Destination

There are many forces that are driving companies to continue to transform how they do business. Technological advances such as IoT, AI, machine learning, virtual reality and augmented reality are creating demanding expectations from customers, employees and boards. Adding to the complexity of CIOs and CISOs is the increasing threats to the security of the data that is at the heart of digital transformation. This keynote presentation will focus on the realities that this transformation will never end and it is critical to implement both the mindset and processes to treat digital transformation as a journey...not a destination.

Takeaways:

  1. It is critical to realize that digital transformation will never end, but will always be unfolding.
  2. CIOs and CISOs must implement processes to ensure that not only their departments are forward thinking, but that their entire company is aware of what new technologies can bring to bear for customers and employees.

A Journey to Digital Transformation

There is more to embracing digital transformation than acquiring and embracing new technology platforms for artificial intelligence, cloud & automation, and secure mesh services. To gain efficiency, improve productivity, increase agility, and to move faster in a digital economy you need to also think about your organization's culture, how you attract and retain great people, and how you will modernize legacy applications and processes.

In this session, Red Hat will share their vision on how organizations can build their journey and avoid common mistakes other organizations have made as they have transformed their organizations.

Enabling Business Transformation Effectively Within The Public Service In Partnership With The Private Sector

Transformation and modernization initiatives across government have increased scrutiny on the ability to achieve outcomes reliant on effective IT delivery.

Iterative approaches to project management, policy and procurement strategy and transition to service are essential. The private sector offers a wealth of expertise key to government success, but the complexity of the federal landscape can be challenging for the private sector to comprehend thereby limiting their capacity to supply concepts of business value to public sector delivery leaders.

We will explore how the public and private sector can evolve their approach in order to have an effective and innovative partnership through an open discussion with regards to the opportunities and challenges of delivery in the federal environment.

Takeaways:

- How to have an effective public/private sector conversation
- Understanding the pitfalls of the private sector ?shiny concept/tool? presentation for government leaders  how the private sector can better propose value with their innate expertise

The Role of Machine Learning, AI & Deep Learning in Security

When it comes to security and protecting our business, security experts traditionally drown in a ?sea of data: vs profit from these ?data goldmines?! How can this data be turned into a valuable insight allowing one to predict future events and potentially help prescribe actionable objectives? Cognitive computing technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), natural language processing are able to process these vast datasets at an unprecedented pace allowing for CIO's and CISO's to interpret and protect against business against these threats. We will discuss how cognitive computing can help us navigate the acceleration of activity and decisions that we make in Cyber Security.

Takeaways:

  • How is the Cyber Security landscape changing?
  • New cognitive computing technologies for security operations.
  • Cognitive Security, how it helps your business.

Say Goodbye to Vulnerability Backlogs: Using RASP to Reclaim Control and Reduce Risk

Knowing is half the battle when it comes to protecting applications and their sensitive data.

Application security testing tools scan your code to reveal the long lists of known vulnerabilities, but not all are remediated before the next release-even with mature secure software development practices. Enterprises resort to using theoretical levels of criticality - not actual risks-to prioritize which accumulated vulnerabilities to fix and in what order. Many vulnerabilities often undergo an exception process and make it into protocol.

A real-time, embedded solution like Prevoty's runtime application self-protection RASP changes the game completely. Prevoty places an automated security mechanism at the front of the line - directly in the application's operating environment - to immediately lower risk and act as a compensating control at runtime.

As such, Prevoty-enabled enterprises see 98%+ of their known vulnerabilities mitigated instantly, reducing backlogs and expediting an otherwise cumbersome release process. Prevoty RASP detects live production attacks and generates real-time security event longs and reports. Security teams can then correlate pre-production vulnerability scan results with Prevoty's runtime attack logs to go back, remediate based on actual risk - not just hypothetical threats. The result? Improved forensics.

Evolution/Cost Reduction Paradox

The shift from legacy data collection and storage models to cloud has resulted in new paradigms in data management. Add to this more sophisticated and motivated adversaries, along with innovation in the manner in which they attack, and it yields a perfect storm of a complex attack surface, combined with multi-phased and multi-vector attacks. Today's organizations are more outgunned than ever, and yet IT and security budgets are being reigned in, as cost reduction mandates continue to dominate the boardroom.

Join Symantec's Ajay K. Sood for an interactive discussion on the Evolution/Cost Reduction paradox, and some practical strategies on navigating this environment.

Planning for a Multi-Cloud Future

The promise of the cloud is almost beyond compare; infinite computing resources, unmatched reliability and uptime, instantaneous service availability, simplistic self-service and provisioning, and the low-low prices of a buy by the drink model. These are the reasons behind the rush to the cloud that we are currently experiencing. However, the wholesale adoption does bring a downside as more and more capability is moved to the cloud, more and more cloud providers are utilized since, and for the most part, each provider offers only a limited suite of services. The multi-cloud environment that creates a new set of challenges that IT leaders need to overcome, notably resiliency, interoperability/integration, and security and compliance through careful planning and the lessons learned from building complex on premise distributed systems.

Takeaways:

  1. As enterprises move to the cloud, multi-cloud environments will increasingly become the norm, not the exception.
  2. Consistent planning and thoughtful architecture will be essential to efficient and effective cloud deployments.
